Prof. dr. Erik Frijlink, communication

Erik Frijlink (1960) is Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmaceutics at the University of Groningen since 1998. Before that, he was head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Development at Solvay Pharmaceuticals.

 

The research of Frijlink focuses on new systems for pulmonary drug delivery (inhalation), oral drugs which release the drug directly into the intestine, the production of nano-crystals of medicinal products and the stabilization of biopharmaceuticals such as protein therapeutics and vaccines.

 

He has (co-) authored more than 140 peer-reviewed publications and is named as an inventor on 11 patents.

 

Frijlink is the winner of the Astellas Basic Science Award 2008-2009 and the Ockels Award 2010.
